Keeping Up with The Binondo Girl

Last November 27, 2015, was the Speak Sense Season 2 held at the APC auditorium. Speak Sense is a public speaking competition joined by different high school students representing their respective schools. The theme was "Whether it's the best of times or worst of times, it's the only time we've got." 

Everyone did their best in delivering their speeches. Of course, it's not only by the delivery, it's how you make your audience feel what you want them to feel. When you really are sincere on what you are saying, your emotions will flow over along with the whole delivery. 

The first speaker, Ms. Lian Buan taught us how to effectivley write a story. There are 2 lines fom what she said that sums up her speak. 

— "There are no bad stories, only bad story tellers."

— "Journalism is about making the important interesting and the interesting relevant."

These are what se taught us: 

Story telling with a purpose: 5 W's & H +++ 

1. Content - What is the story about?

2. New - What are the value added information? Insights? 

3. So what? - Why should people care?

4. And then? - What do we want to see happen?
