''Ang Tatay Mong Kalbo'' is a transalted play by Isagani Cruz that was originated from "The Bald Soprano" by Eugene  Ionesco. It is an absurd play. From the word absurd, it is senseless, illogical, untrue, or laughably foolish.

At first when I heard the title of the play, I was absolutely clueless! And because it was my first time to watch a play on my whole seventeen years of experience, I was kinda excited. (Of course, every one would be excited on their first times right? *wink*)

On the first scene or scenario, Mr and Mrs. Santos kept talking about rice and the Gene San Juan clan endlessly and it's basically non-sense! Then, Maria came in on the scene, she's their helper by the way and she's the funniest character among all the characters. She talked about how messy things were at the house. The next thing was they had visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Reyes, who kept talking about how familiar their faces to each other were. They continuously had a flashback on the days, times and places they think they saw each other and to top it all, they realized they were a married couple and that they have a son. Their one famous line was 'katakataka' --- and again, non-sense. Both the couples gathered on the living room, someone was knocking on the door, but when Mrs. Santos opened the door, no one was out there. Then they kept talking about 'Kapag may tumitimbre, may tao sa labas.' which is for both of the husbands, and 'Kapag may tumitimbre, walang tao sa labas.', for the wives. And there came Hepe, he told that he was looking for fire to be kept out, and he told stories. When Mrs. Santos was asked by the Hepe, "Anong ginagawa ng tatay mong kalbo?", Mrs. Santos replied, "Ayun, nag susuklay pa rin."

For me, the story was amazingly and beautifully written. When it was delivered and reenacted by the 'Teatro Phileo' actors and actresses, it was even more brought to life. It was given justice. My first time watching a play was worth remembering. Kudos to all the casts and to the production team of this play! *slow clap*
